Salt naturals — how each goes on. Point stays PROUD.
SALT
FRESH CLAM › 6/0 CIRCLE (STRIPERS) / BITS (SEA BASS)
Thread the tough foot ONCE, drape the soft belly, lash with 6-8 wraps of elastic bait thread — clam casts off without it. Point + barb fully EXPOSED or the circle-hook rotation fails. Fresh only; frozen washes out.
SQUID STRIP › HI-LO HOOKS & BUCKTAIL TIPS
Pennant cut: 3-4" long, 3/4" wide end to a point. Hook ONCE through the wide end only — double-hooking kills the flutter. On bucktails: 2" strip so it can't foul the hook on the jig stroke.
LIVE KILLIE › FLUKE
Up through BOTH lips, bottom jaw first — swims natural, lives for many casts. Never body-hook. The money combo: killie on the point FIRST, Gulp mullet threaded behind — the sandwich: scent + action + live kick.

Baiting II
Plastics threaded straight · crab · worm bits.
ALL WINGS
SOFT PLASTIC › JIGHEAD / BUCKTAIL / NED HEAD
Nose on the point, work the body around the bend, hook exits at the keel line. THE TEST: hold it up — any curve = it spins, not swims. Re-thread until arrow-straight. Gulp recharges in its juice nightly; Z-Man never touches Gulp juice (the plastics react).
GREEN CRAB › TAUTOG / SHEEPSHEAD
Snip claws, cut in half, optionally peel the top shell. Hook IN a leg socket, point OUT the shell top — proud, never buried. Half per hook. Tog take = tap...tap... WEIGHT: strike the weight, not the tap.
WORM BITS › KINGFISH · SPOT · TROUT (WHERE LEGAL)
Kingfish: DIME-SIZE bloodworm bit threaded up the #6-#4 shank, short tail — big pieces feed fish without hooking them. Fishbites 1" strip survives the crabs. Sandworm (night stripers): head up the shank, 2-3" trailing. PA trout: redworm on #8-10 — legal bait water ONLY.
